David Milward Bio
On graduating from the Welsh School of Musical Instrument Making in 1986, I worked for many years as a musical instrument restorer, a time in which I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with many fine instruments of the violin family.
An early interest with the viola soon developed, which combined with a natural curiosity regarding geometry and its application in art and design, I soon realised that the viola presented a unique opportunity for the modern maker.
Working exclusively with the viola form, I have over the years developed my own original pattern for this exciting instrument. From an established geometrical pattern I am able to develop a broad size range of viola sizes, and my time is now fully committed to producing violas developed on this personal workshop model.
